The NATIONAL PRESIDENTIAL ORCHESTRA of UKRAINE

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                     9 day  long course that combines intensive conducting training, seminars, discussions  ending in 2 Public performances with the National Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine.   

Group and individual sessions daily with faculty and singers, participants of the Vocal Workshop, one-on-one conductor-singer pairing sessions and 5 ( five ) full symphony orchestra rehearsals ( no piano, quintet or sextet, not even one- per- part ensemble, but full symphony orchestra only! ), 2 dress rehearsals and the Participants' Public concerts on August 19 and August 20, 2019.                                                                                                                                    Dine and review your day with all of us daily.

The course will be held in English, secondary in German, Russian and Ukrainian and will take place in Kiev, Ukraine.

Every Active and Passive Participant will receive  Complimentary Lodging ( 11 days, single room occupancy ) and 9 days meal plan to enjoy the workshop,  the Bouquet Kiev Stage Festival 2019 and Kiev's rich cultural life.

Only 12 conductors will be accepted to the program

 

Training Sessions, Rehearsals and Discussions

 

Active Participants choose repertoire, which they are required to study and prepare in advance. They will have up to 100 minutes of podium time with the orchestra. Each conducting session will be concluded with a discussion/seminar. Topics include baton technique, score study, interpretation and rehearsal technique, art of vocal coaching and conducting recitatives and arias with opera singers. Conductors will work with orchestral repertoire and on 2/3 arias or duets with singers. Several individual practice rooms with pianos will be available.

All podium sessions will be video recorded. We encourage you to bring your recording devices and/or SD cards.

Auditors will attend all sessions and participate in all non-conducting activities

 

Orchestra

 

Participants will conduct the National Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine

 

The Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine was founded in 1992 by the First President of Ukraine with the mission to appear at all the most important Ukrainian Governmental events of national significance. The Orchestra has quickly became a leader in representing of Ukrainian rich orchestral history and music in the world. The Orchestra had collaborated with most noted conductors, soloists and has toured extensively across the world. The Orchestra performs a wide variety of music ranging from a small ensemble to a full symphony orchestra.

The National Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine will be featured at the Independence Day of Ukraine celebration on August 23, 2019

As a part of the workshop, there will be 2 Public Concerts on the stage of the Saint Sophia Cathedral with the National Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine on August 19 and August 20, 2019.  Each Active participant is guaranteed to conduct at the concerts.

How to Apply

Submit an electronic application, a non-refundable $50 application fee, a short resume and a short video recording of you conducting  by May 15, 2019. Please submit your videos directly to LSMUZIC@GMAIL.COM  to avoid any problems uploading your videos. Upon notification of acceptance, a tuition payment must be made by June 1, 2019. There is an option to pay a half of the tuition ( $1000.00 ) by June 1 and the other half ( $950 ) on the day of registration in Kiev, Ukraine.  Auditors must pay full tuition by June 1, 2019
